These pieces were created while on staff at Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood WA this summer.

It took about 3 days to get the metalwork done (About 40-50 hours)
And just under 2 hours for the glass.

They're about 30" long.

Metal
Blown glass

These are fantastic, super mix of textures and good feel of slimey movement.
I love it! I love it! I love it!
The tension between the metal and the glass just makes me excited...
I just feel like screaming to those little metal branches... if they squeeze any harder it might burst...any looser and it will fall.
These two would be perfect on either side of the mantle in my bedroom!
Hehe. Thanks. Slimey movement. I like that description!

Oh yeah, I don't think I mentioned in the description... I don't think they are installed optimally here... But I wanted to get both of them in the photo, so I put them up that way. I think ideally, they'd be somewhere like on oppposite sides of a mantle, or a doorway. Something like that.

Wow... I love them... I can feel the pressure of the metal.

If you ever make an exhibition in Toronto let me know... cause i want to see these pieces in real life. Now they look amazing and its only a picture of them!!!
So shall it be done.

Thanks!

Now this is original.

Did the glass come first?

Too sexy for my subscription.
The metal always comes first in these sculptures. I blow the glass directly into the metal. That way the glass kind of confoms to the shape of the metal. And expands around the metal as it's held back. IF that makes sense... :D

It does.
I have minimal knowledge of glassblowing (learning is a bit out of my price range), so I'm not sure what can or cannot be done with it.

Thanks.
